Join the K-talk Afterschool Program for an immersive and exciting experience in learning the Korean language and culture! Our program is designed to help children develop their language skills through interactive lessons, engaging cultural activities, and a supportive environment.

  • Weekly Class Structure:
  • 3:00 PM – 3:10 PM: Welcome and Warm-Up
  • Start with a greeting, short conversation, or review of material from the previous session. This can include simple Q&A in Korean or short ice-breaker activities.
  • 3:10 PM – 3:40 PM: Homework Help
  • Homework time, or students can practice their Korean by working on extra worksheets or reviewing vocabulary from previous lessons.
  • 3:40 PM – 4:10 PM: Language Lesson
  • Focus on introducing new vocabulary and grammar. Practice conversational skills.
  • 4:10 PM – 4:20 PM: Break
  • Short break with light snacks and socializing in Korean, encouraging basic conversation during downtime.
  • 4:20 PM – 4:50 PM: Cultural Activity
  • Monday and Wednesday will feature different activities based on the week’s theme, such as:

    Traditional crafts (e.g., making a Korean fan, paper folding, or playing traditional games).

    ‣ Cultural storytelling (learning about Korean folktales).

    ‣ Hands-on activities (e.g., cooking simple Korean snacks, learning basic Korean dance).
  • 4:50 PM – 5:00 PM: Wrap-up and Review
  • End with a short group activity or game related to the day's content (e.g., Hangul bingo, matching vocabulary cards).

What age group is the program for?

Our program is designed for children aged 6-12 years old. We tailor our lessons to suit various learning levels, from beginners to intermediate students.

How often are the classes held?

Classes are offered twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. You can choose between attending once or twice a week.

What will my child learn?

We start with Hangul, the Korean alphabet, and progress through vocabulary, basic grammar, and conversational skills. In addition to language, we integrate Korean cultural activities such as traditional games, arts, crafts, and learning about Korean holidays.

Are the classes taught in Korean or English?

Our classes are taught primarily in Korean to create a language immersion experience. Instructors may use English for clarification, especially for beginners, but the goal is for students to gain as much exposure to Korean as possible.

Do you offer pick-up services from local bus stops?

Yes, we offer pick-up services from both Murray Park and Court Square bus stops for students enrolled in the K-talk Afterschool Program.

Does my child need prior knowledge of Korean?

No prior knowledge of Korean is required. Our program welcomes beginners as well as students with intermediate skills who want to enhance their language proficiency.

What if my child misses a class?

There are no make-up classes.  We follow the NYC DOE Calendar and offer our afterschool program on all days when NYC public schools are in session. After school is Feel free to reach out to us via email or phone for any additional questions. We’re here to help!
